▶︎ Art as a form of political expression in Iran

In tyrannical countries, the media in all forms is typically controlled. For example, in Iran, the regime restricts content that is not aligned with their agenda. The publishing of pro-reformist and Western material results in severe punishment. In spite of the adversities, people are taking the risk and rising up against the repression and dangers they may face. This podcast is inspired by two Iranian protagonists who both adhere to their restrictions and arrange illegal events in the desert. In their documentary ”Raving Iran,” these two protagonist struggle to follow their passion yet overcame the many odds by not surrendering to the regime. Yasamen Sharif Manesh, an Iranian independent filmmaker, shares her thoughts with us on the role of art as a form of political expression, in Iran.
